(MENAFN - NewsIn.Asia) Dhaka, September 19( BDNews24/newsin.asia): Ironically, Bangladesh will be importing 100,000 mt of rice from Myanmar to meet a surging demand for the cereal following the heavy influx of Rohingya Muslim refugees from Myanmar. Bangladesh is facing a shortage also because of the destruction of the last rice crop due to flooding. The import duty on rice was also revised down to 2 percent from 26 percent. To adjust the market prices, the government has doubled the price of rice for its open market sale or OMS to Tk 30 per kilogram.
