Hasina said that she had promised to turn the Bangladesh navy into a 'three-dimensional force' that had now become a reality with the induction of the two submarines. Bangladesh Navy entered a new era on Sunday with the induction of two China-made 035G diesel-electric submarines into its fleet . BNS Nabajatra and BNS Joyjatra were commissioned on Sunday by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Isha Khan Naval Base in Chittagong. Before handing over to Bangladesh, the submarines went through renovations at the Liaoning shipyard. On Sunday, Prime Minister Hasina also inaugurated the Base Support Facilities for the submarines and laid the foundation stone for a separate base for them, the 'BNS Sheikh Hasina.'
