A day-long workshop on the “Draft Capacity Development Framework for Local Government Institutions” was held in Dhaka on Thursday. The main objective of the capacity development framework of those institutions is to address the needs by implementing an “appropriate” development framework. The city corporations, municipalities, Zila Parishads, Upazila Parishads and Union Parishads would be brought under the framework. He recommended setting up a ‘Steering Committee’ to drive the proposed five capacity development interventions for the local government institutions. LGD Secretary Abdul Malek, and UNDP Bangladesh Office’s Assistant Country Director Shaila Khan were present, among others, at the programme.
