The public administration ministry’s Secretary Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury and Harvard Kennedy School Senior Associate Dean for Executive Education Debra Iles signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the institution on Tuesday in local time in Massachusetts, Boston. The ministry released a media statement on Wednesday saying the deal will allow the public servants to receive training at the school in 2016-17 fiscal year. The government expects the agreement will facilitate the development of skills, higher education, training and research. The release said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina put special emphasis on training of government officials for building a skilled and service-based public administration.Following the prime minister’s eagerness, a team led by Secretary Kamal got in touch with renowned institutions in the US last year.The ministry said the Bangladeshi delegation discussed on-demand training, development of training institutions, training curriculum and several other issues with HKS Academic Dean Archon Fung and other academics off the institution.Md Shameem Ahsan, Consul General of Bangladesh in New York and the ministry’s Deputy Secretary Abdul Hamid, among others, were present when the agreement was signed.
