The government organised the fireworks display in the capital’s Suhrwardy Udyan and Hatirjheel, and the district town on Tuesday evening. Telecom and IT Minister Mustafa Jabbar said at Hatirjheel: “We are the first nation in the world to have added the word ‘digital’ to the name of our country. We believe no one can stop us from heading forward.”State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, back from Florida in the US where he witnessed the satellite being hurled towards the space early on Friday, was also at Hatirjheel during the celebrations. “Bangladesh will lead the digital era in the future and we are building our next generations for this,” he said. A cultural programme was also held there.
