The foreign minister mentioned that Cambodian Buddhist tourists can visit many historic Buddhist heritage cites in Bangladesh. Two countries agreed to establish a Joint Commission in June 2014 during the last visit of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen to Bangladesh. He also mentioned that the people of Bangladesh and Cambodia share common cultural and linguistic roots and both the countries have potential to forge “deeper”cooperation. Terming Bangladesh as a “friend”, he thanked the government for supporting Cambodian candidature in the UN and multilateral foray and mentioned that both Bangladesh and Cambodia would “closely” cooperate in international and multilateral forums. The Ambassador who is based in New Delhi assured the Minister that he would work to further strengthen bilateral relations.
