Bangladesh, UK to hold first strategic dialogue

Bangladesh and the United Kingdom will hold the first ever strategic dialogue later this month with a view to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. UK Minister for Asia and the Pacific Alok Sharma and Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali agreed to hold the dialogue during a meeting on Friday. The strategic dialogue will be held between the foreign secretary of Bangladesh and the permanent undersecretary of UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. At the meeting, UK Minister Sharma said that he felt optimistic that the dialogue would play an important role in further strengthening and enhancing Bangladesh-UK relations. He encouraged further investment from the UK in areas like infrastructure, energy and power, ICT, and healthcare, and reiterated that British trade delegations should visit Bangladesh to develop business partnerships.
