Bangladesh’s apparel export will not be affected by visa restrictions, claims BGMEA

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has reassured that any visa restrictions imposed by the United States will not negatively impact apparel shipments from Bangladesh. BGMEA President Faruque Hassan emphasised that the industry can effectively continue its operations without the need for officials to travel abroad, thanks to the advanced communication systems available worldwide. He made these remarks during a press conference held at the BGMEA office in Dhaka’s Uttara, where the media was briefed on the current state of the local apparel sector. He expressed confidence that visa restrictions would not adversely affect apparel shipments to the US, emphasising that the BGMEA’s primary concern is helping its members meet the diverse requirements set by buyers to enhance trade. The BGMEA President underlined that the US does not intend to harm the general population of Bangladesh, recognizing the substantial employment provided by the country’s garment industry.
