The three companies – one from China, one from India and one being Globe Biotech – had applied to us before,” he said. When asked about the progress regarding Bangavax, the BMRC director said that Globe Biotech would need to complete a number of processes, including applying the vaccine on monkeys or chimpanzees before proceeding to human trials. Earlier on December 28 last year, the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) permitted Globe Biotech to manufacture Bangavax for clinical trials. On December 1, Globe Biotech announced that it would part ways with the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) on conducting human trials of its vaccine.
