By ABDULRAHMAN SHERIFFMore by this AuthorBandari Swim Club’s girls 12-13 years 4x100 metres freestyle relay team Saturday clocked five minutes 28.34 seconds to set a new Kenya national record during the second day of the Coast Amateur Swimming Association (CASA) Grand Prix 1 Swimming Championship at Bandari College. The Bandari quartet of 12-year-old Deeya Shah, Hazel Kithiki (13), Aashika Varia (12) and Vivian Hillier (13) broke the previous record of 5:31.81 held by Mombasa Aquatics SC since June 2, 2012. In the boys category, Hassan Soud of Bandari clinched the 19 years and over 1500m freestyle crown in 23:48.75, 100m breaststroke (1:25.44) and 50m backstroke (43.63). Bandari swimmers took five top places in the boys 50m backstroke where Rushab Shah finished first (30.74), Scott Kithiiki, second (31.06), Kunaal Khagram, third (31.09), Mohamed Khandawalla, fourth (31.69) and Stephen Ndegwa, fifth (33.35). Mombasa Aquatics made it 1-2-3 in boys 11-12 years 50m backstroke where Joshua Masakha took gold (37.15), Sathyam, Gohil (39.37) and Ali Abrary (41.21).
