Banani rape case: Delayed medical tests find no evidence


Medical tests carried out more than a month after two university students claimed they were raped at a Banani hotel have found no evidence that the victims were sexually violated. Dhaka Medical College Forensic Medicine Department chief Dr Shohel Mahmud says rape victims need to be examined as soon as possible after the incident. Shafat Ahmed, Shadman Sakif, Nayem Ashraf, Shafat’s driver Billal Hossain and his bodyguard Rahmat Ali were accused in the case. “We formed a five-member medical board,” Dr Mahmud said, again stressing that they found no evidence of rape because of the delay.
