When Morgan was battling through at-bats without successfully registering a hit for the Phillies in 1983, he said “I’m not in a slump, I’m just not getting hits. A slump is when you’re not hitting the ball and striking out. Through Davis’s 50 hitless at-bats, he has struck out 28 times and was walked on six occasions for a .107 OBP. For players mired in a slump, it’s a good bet it’s due to not being locked in mentally. So, let’s hope Chris Davis finds his way out of the bad luck, bad performances, and bad mental state he’s suffered through over his last 50 at-bats.
