BALING: A woman's curiosity upon hearing the cries of a baby led to the discovery of a newborn at the doorstep of her home in Kampung Bendang Sera here, early today. Baling police chief Superintendent Shariffuddin Yusuf said the woman, accompanied by her parents, immediately rushed the baby to the Baling Hospital. Baling Welfare Department officer Shamsul Izrin Ishak (2nd from left) inspects the area where a newborn baby was abandoned at Kampung Bendang Sera. Meanwhile, the Baling Welfare Department will be applying for a Temporary Custody Order from the Baling magistrate's court under Section 25( 2) (A) of the Child Act 2001. He said the baby would be placed at the department's children’s shelter home in Kepala Batas, Penang.
