The Supreme Court verdict in the Aadhaar case is balanced as it has upheld the constitutional validity of the scheme while also addressing data privacy issues, leading figures in the information technology (IT) industry said. ".. the Supreme Court has in effect addressed many of the concerns related to wide use of Aadhaar data and resulting data privacy issues," Balakrishnan said. "While they (SC) have upheld the validity of the Aadhaar bill, they have struck down many provisions of the bill," he said. "I personally like Justice (D Y) Chandrachud's judgement striking down the Aadhaar bill as it addresses clearly the larger issue of right to privacy," he added. The Supreme Court Wednesday declared the Centre's flagship Aadhaar scheme as constitutionally valid but struck down some of its provisions including its linking with bank accounts, mobile phones and school admissions.
