Bala Devi, India's top scorer and a former captain of the national women's football team, is gearing up for a fresh challenge on the pitch. While goalkeeper Aditi Chouhan had a stint with West Ham United in 2015, Bala Devi is the first to sign a professional contract. Midfielder and co-captain of the US women's national team, Megan Rapinoe, and among men, the Portuguese winger, Cristiano Ronaldo. After a string of good performances, in 2005, she joined the under-17 Indian national team.
