BAGUIO CITY – Less than a thousand delegates of this year’s Philippine Youth Games (Batang Pinoy), who arrived before Typhoon “Ompong” rolled through north Luzon, are under the care of the city government. The delegates from Mindanao and Pangasinan have been housed and are being served by a quick response team formed “to ensure the well-being of the Batang Pinoy athletes at various billeting stations,” said Aileen Refuerzo, Baguio public information officer on Saturday. The summer capital is hosting his year’s national competition that will run from Sept. 17 to 21. Elementary and high school classes have been suspended for that week to accommodate over 7,000 athletes, but some provinces have not allowed their teams to travel to Baguio due to Ompong. The games were scheduled to proceed on Monday, Refuerzo said.
