French bakers have suggested that mass-produced baguettes are giving the variety a bad name. The UN cultural body's world heritage committee aims to protect traditions against the effects of globalisation and meets once a year to evaluate nominations. Yoga, Spanish flamenco, Tibetan opera and Belgian beer culture are among the traditions already included on Unesco's list of intangible cultural heritage.
