The seven-member probe committee visited the place of occurrence on Thursday and later visited the wounded victims, admitted at the Baghaichhari Upazila Health Complex. They later took statements through a meeting with the polling officers, drivers of three chander gari (local transport) who also came under attack on Monday evening and from the victims’ family. But they are assuming that the attackers were waiting in the hills for the convoy to pass by and opened fire from close range. On Monday evening, six polling officials and a candidate’s agent were killed, and at least 29 others were injured in the attack.
