Just before the Rio Olympics, badminton champion Jwala Gutta stars in a brand-new campaign for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India. "If you want to play a sport, play sports like badminton, cricket, tennis or any other sport, but not cockfighting." Posing with a badminton racquet, she appears next to the silhouette of a rooster and the words "Badminton Is a Sport – Cockfighting Is Not". The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, prohibits forcing animals to fight. Gutta is currently ranked 22nd in the women's doubles and mixed category for badminton.
