PETALING JAYA: National men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia stepped up to the plate to help Malaysia stage a come-from-behind victory over India in the Sudirman Cup badminton championship in Nanning, China. India could have wrapped up the tie with a 3-0 scoreline if Zii Jia failed to pull off an upset 21-13, 21-15 win over world No. The pressure was certainly on Zii Jia after teammates Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie’s surprise 21-16, 17-21, 22-24 defeat to Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Ashwini in the opening mixed doubles tie. “Honestly, before the match I felt pressure because we expected our mixed doubles to win,” said Zii Jia. He was so composed, even with all that pressure after our mixed doubles had lost the first tie.
