In the singles events, the top ranked men's player in the world is Kento Momota, while Nozomi Okuhara is the world No. In the men's doubles, they have world No. 2 Takeshi Kamura-Keigo Sonoda, top ranked women's doubles pair Mayu Matsumoto-Wakana Nagahara and world No. Should Malaysia be able to create a massive upset against Japan, the team will face either Taiwan or Indonesia in the semi-final.
