Badminton: Chong Wei marches into Hong Kong Open semis


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s Datuk Lee Chong Wei marched into the men’s singles semi-finals at the Hong Kong Open. The 35-year-old crushed second seed Son Wan-ho of South Korea 21-11, 21-12 in a 37-minute quarter-final match at the Hong Kong Coliseum in Kowloon on Friday. He will take on the winner of the match between Lin Dan and Shi Yuqi of China. The other semi-final will be an intriguing match between reigning China Open champion Chen Long of China and Anders Antonsen of Denmark. It was all over for Malaysia in the men’s doubles with the defeat of Tan Wee Kiong-Ong Yew Sin.
