BadRabbit ransomware with links to Petya spreads across Eastern Europe

BadRabbit is being linked to the Petya ransomware, which attacked computers globally earlier this year, according to a report by The Wired. ESET has found that the malware used for the cyber-attack was Diskcoder.D - a variant of the Petya ransomware. Kaspersky says that the BadRabbit ransomware also spreads using the Windows Management Instrumentation Command-Line, or WMIC, and Microsoft's Server Message Block protocol. But considering that the attack is by the same authors of Petya, we could see the ransomware spread to other parts of the world. The Petya ransomware also affected systems in India, but there is no word yet on whether BadRabbit has hit the country.
