Orca calf Toa is still confined to his pool because of the recent flooding polluting Porirua Harbour, but he is still doing well according to Dr Ingrid Visser. Video / Mark MitchellThe Department of Conservation says it doesn't have a time limit on how long stranded baby orca Toa will remain in captivity, and instead it is regularly assessing his health. The young orca calf has been cared for 24/7 by Visser, DoC staff and volunteers since becoming separated from his mother at Plimmerton on July 11. Orca Research Trust founder Dr Ingrid Visser says they have discussed the topic of euthanasia with DoC staff and Iwi. Volunteers encourage orca calf Toa to play with bull kelp in his pool at the Plimmerton Boating Club in Porirua on Monday.
