The animal was first spotted on Sunday but its condition has "deteriorated rapidly", the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) said. Hundreds of people gathered at Teddington Lock in south-west London on Monday to catch a glimpse of the whale. Measuring between 10ft (3m) and 13ft (4m) long, it was first seen at nearby Richmond Lock stuck on boat rollers. The BDMLR said on Monday evening that a decision had been taken to "euthanise" the minke.
