"The family is heartbroken," Eva Enns told CBC News in a text message. The boy is in a Toronto hospital being treated for burns. Cornelius Reimer, deacon of the Old Colony Mennonite Church in Aylmer, told CBC that the church was "looking after the family." The Ontario Provincial Police and Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal are investigating the fire pit incident.
