Babus tap Rajnath on suspended colleague

New Delhi, Sept. 6: Fifteen home ministry joint secretaries today met minister Rajnath Singh to defend a colleague suspended last week for renewing the foreign-funding licence of an NGO being probed for terror links. Agencies probing the July 1 Dhaka café attack have alleged that money received by the NGO from abroad has funded terror activities. Sources said the 15 bureaucrats told Rajnath that Dwivedi had been punished "harshly" for a mistake by his subordinates. "The home minister gave us a patient hearing and promised to look into the matter," one of the joint secretaries said. Three other ministry officials involved in the renewal of the licence have been suspended.
