Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, who is now the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso East Constituency, denied allegations of vote-buying in party primaries held on February 7, 2026, which led to his recall. In a statement issued on Sunday, February 8, 2026, Baba Jamal pledged his full cooperation with any investigation the party undertakes on the matter. He also thanked the NDC members in Ayawaso East for entrusting him to lead them into the by-election scheduled for March 3, 2026. The Majority Caucus in Parliament has called for the immediate cancellation of the Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries and the disqualification of any candidates found to have engaged in vote-buying.
