BT Sport were forced to apologise after fans could be heard chanting “Robbie Savage… you’re a w***er” during Rochdale’s FA Cup clash with Newcastle. The match was being shown live on BT with Newcastle taking an early lead. The chant could be heard clearly through TV sets and BT were forced to swiftly apologise. On commentary, where he was partnered by Savage, Peter Drury said: “If you’re hearing bad language from the supporters we apologise, we are right in amongst them as you can gather.”It was unclear which set of supporters were aiming the abuse at Savage, though some fans watching at home were enjoying it.
