A BSTI statement on Monday revealed a list that names Danish, Suresh, Promi, Pubali Salt and several other companies selling food products and fuel oil. A BSTI surveillance team examined samples collected from markets and confirmed those items as ‘substandard’ goods. The companies were also served with show-cause notices over the substandard products, the statement added. The BSTI surveillance team collected a total of 521 product samples of different brands from markets throughout the country and tested those in two phases. In the first phase, 17 products were classified as ‘substandard’ among 251 samples and in the second phase 43 other products failed standards test among the remaining samples.
