MANILA, Philippines — The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has remitted P4 billion in dividends to the National Treasury following the enactment of its new charter, according to the Department of Finance (DOF). “We got P4 billion from the BSP during the signing of the enrolled bill, which amended its charter,” Finance Assistant Secretary Soledad Emilia Cruz said. Under the law, the BSP is authorized to increase its capitalization to P200 billion from P50 billion. The BSP has turned over more than P9.4 billion in dividends to the national government under the Duterte administration. Total dividends remitted by GOCCs last year reached P40.18 billion, 32 percent higher than P30.46 billion in the previous year.
