Buoyed by the overwhelming response to the last mega mela for distribution of free BSNL SIM, the public sector telecom service provider is coming out with another mela on August 30. Over 7,000 SIMs were distributed on a single day in Visakhapatnam Telecom District during the mega mela held in July. The ‘LL 49’ plan, introduced during the recent Independence Day, was intended to draw new landline customers. The subscribers under this plan would also enjoy the free night calling facility and free calling on Sundays, like other BSNL landline subscribers. A new landline plus broadband combo plan (Plan 470), introduced last month, would enable broadband users to get a rent-free landline connection for Rs.470 a month.
