According to police and locals, a BSF member on duty at the Pakhiura border shot Chhabil while he was trying to smuggle Indian cows into Narayanpur early Thursday. The man died on the spot after receiving a critical gunshot wound to the abdomen. Meanwhile, Lt Col Jamal Hossain, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB 22) Battalion in Kurigram said he couldn’t confirm whether the man was killed by the BSF or not. “We are trying to contact BSF officials to shed some light on the matter,” he added.
