Consumers of the power distribution company BSES have saved 17 MW of electricity by participating in a pilot project of the discom launched in east and central Delhi areas, a spokesperson said today. Under its demand-side management initiative, the BSES has undertaken a manual demand response project on a six-week pilot basis, he said. Consumers have helped in saving a "whopping" 17 MW in east and central Delhi areas covered by the discom, the spokesperson said. "Eyeing the success of the initiative, the demand response (DR) programme will be gradually rolled-out across BSES area of east, central, south and west Delhi, covered by the BSES Yamuna Power Ltd (BYPL)," he said. These consumers were given a financial incentive of Rs 1 per unit, he added.
