Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) on Wednesday appealed to suspend the order to compensate Rajib Hasan’s family. “BRTC only sought a stay on the compensation of Tk50 lakh which it was directed to pay by the High Court,” said Muniruzzaman. “Besides, the BRTC is run by the government’s money, how can they pay compensation?” he also asked. Earlier on May 8, the High Court gave an interim order to compensate Rajib’s two brothers for a lump sum amount. A bench of Justices Salma Masud Chowdhury and AKM Zahirul Hoque passed the order.
