Students protest in front of the bus that ran over Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury at Kuril, Dhaka on Tuesday CollectedStudents demonstrated throughout Tuesday demanding justice for Abrar Ahmed ChowdhuryBangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has cancelled the registration of the Suprovat Paribahan bus, which ran over a student of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) in Dhaka. “Registration of the bus (Dhaka Metro-B-11-4135) has been temporally cancelled under Section 43 of the Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1983,” a BRTA statement said on Tuesday, reports Bangla Tribune. His death then sparked a massive protest by the students of his university. Although police impounded the bus and arrested its driver soon after, the students blockaded the busy road and demonstrated throughout day, demanding justice for Abrar and capital punishment for those responsible for the death. The students ended the demonstrations later in the evening, but announced that they would continue protests from Wednesday morning till the authorities meet their eight demands, calling for safer roads.
