BRTA (road safety) Director Mahbub-e-Rabbani heads the panel that will submit report in three months after hearing all sides. Representatives of owners and labour associations, BRTA deputy director (Dhaka division), journalists, and civil society members comprise the panel. BRTA started a crackdown against costlier bus services exclusive to seated passengers on Apr 16 but had to suspend the drive after a transport crisis had hit the city. These buses have been running in Dhaka for long although there is no provision for such exclusive services under BRTA route permit. Passengers have complained time and again that these buses charge extra without ensuring the services.
