BRT resumes operations after 38-day hiatus

The Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) on Saturday resumed its operations after over a month hiatus. TransPeshawar, the government-owned company responsible for operations of the BRT, had suspended the transport service last month for inspection of its fleet after four of its buses had caught fire spontaneously and with passengers aboard. The BRT spokesperson, Umair Khan, in a statement said that the BRT service was restored early morning on Saturday after receiving formal approval from the bus manufacturer company. The BRT spokesperson stated that the other three direct routes of Hayatabad will be started today (Sunday). The BRT is one of the best transport system according to the international standards which is sufficient to fulfil the public transport requirement in the provincial capital, he added.
