The leaders called for all parties in Afghanistan to refrain from violence and to settle the situation through peaceful means, reports The Indian Express. In a statement dubbed the New Delhi declaration, the BRICS leaders also stressed the need for “inclusive intra-Afghan dialogue.”Also Read- OP-ED: Are the US and India losing Eurasia? “We condemn in the strongest terms the terrorist attacks near the Hamid Karzai Kabul International Airport that resulted in a large number of deaths and injuries,” it added. “We emphasise the need to address the humanitarian situation [in Afghanistan] and to uphold human rights, including those of women, children and minorities,” the declaration further said.
