BRICS Games: 97 Nations Set to Compete in Kazan


More than 4,000 foreign participants from 97 countries are expected at the BRICS Games in Kazan, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said following a meeting of the organising committee for the preparation and holding of the BRICS Games. Kazan, Russia is preparing to host the BRICS Games from 12 to 23 June, with an unprecedented 97 countries confirming their participation. Over 4,000 foreign athletes are expected to compete in 27 different sports, according to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. Russia has also developed the BRICS Kazan Sports Charter, a document that sets out the framework for sports cooperation within the BRICS group. The BRICS Games are expected to attract a total of 5,000 participants, with over 4,000 coming from countries outside the BRICS bloc.
