State-owned Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) wants Bangladesh Army as Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor to build around 250 kilometres fuel oil pipeline from Chittagong to Dhaka. A consultancy firm- Engineers India Limited (EIL) is currently surveying the pipeline route,” a BPC official said. BPC now is carrying petroleum products inside the country through tank-lorries owned by the private sector and the state-run Bangladesh Railways. Oil tankers, mostly owned by the private sector, have also been carrying fuel oil on various river routes. Crude oil is processed only in the Eastern Refinery to produce diesel, petrol, octane, furnace oil.
