White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre spoke with CNN’s Don Lemon about the state of the U.S. economy, and may not have been exactly forthright when asked about the Biden Administration’s contributions to historic, 40-year high inflation. “We’ve got to remember when thinking about gas prices and food this is coming from Putin’s war against Ukraine,” Jean-Pierre caveated. “They also say that last year’s stimulus package, which you mentioned, contributed to inflation, Karine. What I mean by that is we’ve seen growth, right, with as I mentioned more than 8 million jobs. Karine Jean-Pierre says America is "in a good historic economic place" after Don Lemon grills her on whether the Biden administration is to blame for rising inflation.
