BNZ customers receive strange texts claiming accounts overdrawnKIRK HARGREAVES/FAIRFAX NZ The customer service team at BNZ has apparently been fielding calls from concerned customers all morning. BNZ customers are concerned about the safety of their funds after receiving suspicious text notifications from the bank. BNZ spokeswoman Nicole O'Brien​ said a system error caused a "small number of customers" to receive "routine text and email alerts for accounts that did not belong to them". Netsafe chief executive Martin Cocker said given BNZ has said it was an internal system error, it did not look as if any customers would be harmed. The email has prompted chief executive Karen Scott-Howman to issue a public reminder that anyone can be targeted by these scams.
