GEORGE TOWN: Penang seems to have lost its competitive edge when it comes to attracting investments, the Barisan Nasional Strategic Communications (BNSC) revealed today. Noting that Penang has now lagged behind other states when it comes to investment, BNSC deputy director Datuk Eric See-To said the state has not been number one in investment since the year 2011. "More critically, Penang's share of total manufacturing investment out of the national total has been running significantly below the long-term average of 12 per cent achieved under the previous Barisan Nasional government from 1999 to 2007. His comment follows a recent statement issued by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who had indicated that the state was growing under the Pakatan Harapan state government. See-To said this was similar to DAP's previous self-praise that their competency, accountability and transparency (CAT) efforts reduced their state debt by 95 per cent.
