BNP Standing Committee member and former minister MK Anwar has passed away. The cause of death has been attributed to old age complications, BNP chairperson’s media wing official Shamsuddin Didar told the Dhaka Tribune. BNP chief Khaleda Zia and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep shock over the death of the veteran politician. He served as a senior official in both the governments of Pakistan and Bangladesh, and got involved in politics after his retirement in 1990. MK Anwar was elected as a lawmaker five times, and served as a minister twice.
