As part of countrywide scheduled programs, BNP leaders and activists formed a human chain in Dhaka demanding their chairperson Khaleda Zia’s release from jail. Several hundred BNP leaders and followers formed the human chain around 10:40am on Tuesday in front of Jatiya Press Club amid tight security. The leaders and activists chanted various slogans demanding the immediate release of Khaleda Zia. Earlier on Sunday, the party announced a fresh two-day countrywide program, including the formation of a human chain in the capital. On February 8, BNP chief Khaleda Zia was sent to jail after a special court sentenced her to five years’ rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
