The Standing Committee members of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Friday congratulated party Chairman Tarique Rahman after the party secured a single majority in the election. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other senior leaders greeted Tarique Rahman with flowers at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Friday evening. Following the meeting, BNP Standing Committee member and newly elected Member of Parliament from Chattogram-11, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, told reporters that discussions were held on implementing the party’s 31-point program and forming a national government in coordination with allies who were partners in the simultaneous movement with BNP. “In every difficult time and at every critical juncture, the people of Bangladesh have relied on the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. Asked about the BNP’s approach toward the opposition in parliament, Amir Khasru said democracy would be strengthened through political decorum.
