On Tuesday, CEC KM Nurul Huda urged election officials to make the DNCC polls—slated to be held on February 28—"as fair as the December 30 general election." "His [Huda's] remarks are a blueprint to tear down the country's electoral system," BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said at a press briefing held in Dhaka on Wednesday. "The 11th general election has achieved no credibility, either here or abroad." The senior BNP leader alleged that the CEC has hinted he is "cheating the nation," via his remarks. Citing a ‘hide-and-seek’ play is underway for granting bail to jailed party Chairman Khaleda Zia, Rizvi urged the government to free her from prison.
