Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the announcement at the party headquarters. “The government has unjustly sent Khaleda Zia to prison. The five-year jail term for Khaleda over graft charges is nothing but an act of vengeance, the BNP alleged. “She has just spewed it.”The court has convicted Khaleda of embezzling Tk 21 million in foreign donation for the Zia Orphanage Trust. In the same case, Khaleda’s son Tarique Rahman and four others have been sentenced to 10 years in jail each.
