BNP on Wednesday alleged that people are worried about the fate of Tuesday’s Khulna City Corporation polls because they suspect the government has various machinations planned to manipulate the election. “We do not know what the fate of the Khulna City Corporation polls will be. The BNP leader also said the government stopped Gazipur polls by indulging in a dangerous game. “People are now worried about the outcome of the Khulna city polls.”He came down hard on the Election Commission for playing a silent role regarding the High Court’s stay order on the Gazipur city polls. “The police instructed family members to tell BNP leaders not to go to the election area.”The BNP leader demanded that for the sake of a credible election, the government immediately stop arresting BNP leaders and activists and cease to harass them in the Khulna area.
